Tinsel Town is all set to unleash the new foreign face Wardah Khan. She is originally of Saudi Arabian origin but lives in the United Kingdom. She is a model and is all set to appear in her first Bollywood debut movie Marksheet, with Zoa Morani and Imran Zahid.
Wardah, has earlier worked in a music video album of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and has also posed as a cover girl for a few glossy magazines.
If Bollywood has forever welcomed white-skinned foreign beauties, Wardah is also aware of the fact that she could merely end up as an item girl if she didn’t plan her career well.
“I have been getting offers to do item numbers, but I am wary of taking up any work that is not of much relevance. I want to have a positive impression on the industry for myself as well as other aspiring girls back in London,” Wardah, who came to Mumbai three years back and started working as a model, said.
A brief phase of struggle saw Wardah go through numerous auditions and meetings with the producers.
She is happy her luck has finally turned.
Wardah, who comes from a conservative Saudi-Arabian family, insists she decided to be an actress to fulfill her father’s dream. Her father, a London- based businessman, wanted to be an actor in Bollywood but did not know how to approach the film industry.
“My dad encouraged me to follow my dreams and give Bollywood a shot. He insisted I should live in Mumbai if I want to work in Hindi films, so that I understand how the industry works and also constantly meet filmmakers,” she said.
Marksheet is directed by Rakesh Ranjan Kumar and highlights the ills in the education system.
